Prince showed 'no obvious signs of trauma,’ officials rule out suicide

Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson also said they have also ruled out suicide.

While there is still a lot that is unknown about the death of Prince on Thursday, officials confirmed on Friday that the singer's body had "no obvious signs of trauma."

Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson added that officials have "no reason to believe that this was a suicide."

According to police, a medical call was received at 9:43 a.m. local time Thursday and once they arrived at Paisley Park responders found Prince unresponsive in an elevator. CPR was performed but unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at 10:07 a.m. 

Olson said Prince was last seen around 8 p.m. on Wednesday night at Paisley Park.

Martha Weaver, a spokesperson for the Midwest Medical Examiners Office, said an autopsy was completed at 1 p.m. local time on Friday and that the body had been returned to the family. Results from the autopsy will take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.

"In life he was a very private person," Olson said. "We're going to continue to respect his privacy and dignity and hope that you do as well."

Since Thursday, fans have been gathering at Paisley Park to say goodbye, adorning the fence surrounding the compound with flowers.
