Radio stations to simulcast Prince's 'Nothing Compares 2 U,' make all of us cry

Tomorrow at 5:07 p.m. Central Time -- "seven hours and thirteen days" after Prince's sudden death at age 57 -- radio stations across the country will honor the music legend by playing his original version of "Nothing Compares 2 U." 

Minneapolis' KCMP sent the invitation on Tuesday for radio stations nationwide to play the song, which begins with the lyrics "It's been seven hours and 13 days/ Since you took your love away." From there, it unfurls into a heartbreaking tale of lost love. 

Prince originally co-wrote "Nothing Compares 2 U" for The Family's self titled 1985 album before Sinead O'Connor's version became a hit.

"We thought marking this moment over the airwaves with one of Prince's most ubiquitous songs would be a wonderful way to honor his legacy," KPMC's Jim McGuinn says. "We hope that wherever Prince fans are, and whatever radio station they are listening to, they will take a minute to listen and remember his musical genius and artistry." 

They're also inviting fans to record themselves listening to the song and share it on social media using the hashtag #NothingCompares2U.
