It's not out of the ordinary to see the odd bit of fashion royalty on the FROW at London Fashion Week.

On Tuesday, actual royalty graced London Fashion Week when Queen Elizabeth II plonked herself right next to the Queen of Fashion, Dame Anna Wintour.

Wintour's decision to keep her sunglasses on during the show has left some Brits feeling royally cheesed off.

The Queen made an appearance at designer Richard Quinn's show, where she presented him with a brand new award. Richard Quinn was the first recipient of the inaugural Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design, which will be presented to a designer each year from now on.

It seems that even in the presence of British royalty, Anna Wintour doesn't remove her signature dark shades.

Mashable spoke to royal etiquette expert William Hanson to find whether Wintour should have ditched her sunnies.

"Dame Anna Wintour should have removed her sunglasses when in the presence of Her Majesty The Queen at London Fashion Week," says Hanson. Hanson said that Wintour has managed to remove the glasses at other royal events, including the Fashion Week reception at Buckingham Palace the day before.

"Although I know that Dame Anna would have meant The Queen no deliberate disrespect, it is a shame that the queen of fashion's protocol was far from on trend yesterday," he says.

That said, he doesn't think Her Majesty would have been offended. "She would probably have noticed and internally thought it was a bit odd, but The Queen has seen it all and clearly took it all in her stride!"

Some people on social media thought it was disrespectful.

"Just who does Anna Wintour think she is?" opined Katie Hind on Twitter.

"How very rude," wrote Nicola Jane Swinney.

Not everyone found Wintour's choice to keep her shades on disrespectful.

"I need that level of swag in my life," said one person.

Shades or no shades, the Queen seems to have had a blast.
