Well, stranger things have happened.

According to Billboard, members of Rage Against the Machine -- the rap metal band that has been mostly dormant for years -- will unite with members of hip-hop groups Public Enemy and Cypress Hill for a supergroup. Kind of like NKOTBSB, but nothing like NKOTBSB.

According to the site, the group will include three-quarters of Rage -- guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk -- and Public Enemy’s Chuck D and Cypress Hill’s B-Real. (Zack de la Rocha will not be involved.) They will reportedly perform songs by all three bands, and will make their debut performance in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Palladium on June 3.

The report comes after Rage Against the Machine launched a mysterious website, prophetsofrage.com, with a countdown to May 31 and the hashtag #TakeThePowerBack, which is the name of one of their songs.

Rage Against the Machine last performed together in 2011. Representatives for the groups did not respond to Mashable's request for comment.
