Modern society, hey.

Those youth are too damn busy checking their social media profiles, buying random crap on eBay and taking Instagram selfies on their smartphones to interact with society. Everyone except the baby boomers are screwed.

While the rant above is incredibly trite and deserves to belong at the bottom of a Facebook comments feed, a train station in Sydney, Australia is offering up a new incentive to get your head up and out of our screens. The reward is no pain, it would seem.

A rather patronising sign placed in front of a cracked piece of glass at Central Station is perfectly placed, warning commuters to "stay alert" and asking them to not be distracted by their phone.

We're not certain if the shattered glass is a result of someone walking into it, however, but it's a good excuse to get people to pay attention. The photo was posted on reddit by user ParisHL on Thursday.

We'd take this sign's advice, but we're unfortunately really addicted to the Internet.
