Exclusive: Ray Liotta in talks to join Lady Gaga, Bradley Cooper in 'A Star Is Born'
LOS ANGELES -- Emmy-winning actor Ray Liotta is in talks to join Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga in WB's update of A Star Is Born, Mashable has learned.
Cooper will make his directorial debut with the film, which he's also producing with Jon Peters, Bill Gerber and Basil Iwanyk.
A Star Is Born follows a washed-up, alcoholic musician who helps an up-and-coming performer attain fame while his own career faces a downward spiral.

Liotta is making a deal to play the two leads' manager in the film, which is focusing on rock stars rather than movie stars.
Janet Gaynor and Fredric March starred in the 1937 version of A Star Is Born, which was updated in 1954 with James Mason and Judy Garland as the leads, and again in 1976 with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.
Cooper agreed to direct the project after his American Sniper director Clint Eastwood left the project, back when Cooper would have simply played the lead. Warner Bros. just announced it will release A Star Is Born on Sept. 28, 2018.
Liotta, who broke out in classics like Field of Dreams and Goodfellas, has been busy filming the NBC series Shades of Blue with Jennifer Lopez. He and Cooper shared riveting screen time together in the underrated 2012 crime drama The Place Beyond the Pines.
Liotta is represented by UTA and Untitled Entertainment.
