Rebel Wilson to star in 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels' remake

Does Rebel Wilson have what it takes to be a dirty rotten scoundrel? The Pitch Perfect actress is attached to star in a gender-flipped remake of MGM's 1988 comedy Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Mashable has confirmed. The original starred Steve Martin and Michael Caine as two con men out to swindle an heiress out of her fortune. Wilson will be paired with another comedic actress in the remake, which is changing the scam's target to a naive male tech prodigy. Variety broke the news of the remake, which Wilson will produce with former MGM exec Roger Birnbaum.

There's no director onboard yet, but whoever gets the gig will be working from a script by Jac Schaeffer. This isn't the only '80s remake that Wilson is attached to star in, as she's also slated to step into Goldie Hawn's combat boots in Private Benjamin.

Wilson recently appeared in three studio comedies -- New Line's How to Be Single, Sony's The Brothers Grimsby and Fox Searchlight's Absolutely Fabulous. She's represented by WME.
