Bridges are an engineering marvel.

They are majestic and very necessary. Unfortunately, their beauty is often Instagrammed and then forgotten.

But thanks to Reddit, bridges are making an online resurgence.

In the subreddit /r/pics, bridges of all shapes, sizes and purposes have become a point of discussion and hilarity. It seems human ingenuity has created some truly amazing bridges, and then some that are are just ... not.

The trend started with this post by Redditor michielap.

Upon seeing this very thoughtful bridge, other Redditors wanted their countries to also get credit for animal bridges.

And then, of course, Reddit took this pure celebration of animal bridges and injected some wry, literal humor.

Then, the discussion of bridges just got downright weird.

Turns out we don't always think through our infrastructure plans.

But it's okay, because Reddit brought the conversation back with this definitive mic-drop of a bridge.
