There are endless ways to end a relationship, but perhaps the most brutal of them all is by ghosting your partner, even if they totally deserve it.

Ghosting, or completely cutting off all contact with someone without explanation, has become a pretty popular way of dealing with a short fling or someone you maybe went out with a few dates. It's also pretty cruel. While ghosting someone you hardly know is somewhat commonplace, Redditor throwawayaccountrar shared a story on r/confession of how they ghosted their boyfriend of five years, and it's just glorious.

In the post, the Redditor explains that they surprised their then boyfriend one morning with some breakfast and a video game they had wanted, when they discovered their significant cuddling with an ex. The Redditor decided to leave their key to the boyfriend's apartment, the game, and breakfast, and then they vanished into thin air.

"I went to my car, deactivated my Facebook, and blocked him on all other forms of social media. I then called my phone provider to change my number before driving off," they wrote. So all forms of communication are gone.

But it gets worse.

The revengeful ex texted close friends and family members their boyfriend knew, and had them block him too.

Considering the boyfriend could still contact their ex at their home or work, the Redditor explains that they were able to bail on their current home lease early, and coincidentally, started a new job in a different city that week.

"Completely shutting myself off from him will hurt worse than anything."

"I completely removed myself from him and didn’t offer a shred of explanation or opportunity for dialogue," the Redditor wrote. "I disappeared from his life after his betrayal and I think it’ll not only help me to focus on myself without his presence, but I think completely shutting myself off from him will hurt worse than anything when he thinks on how good he had it with me these last five years."

While seeing the guy's face as he realizes exactly what happened when he awoke to find his partner's keys on the counter, playing the long game and completely ghosting him just keeps paying off.

Either that or they're just lying for fake internet points.
