You can now rent a toilet for the low, low cost of $4,252 a month
Who needs a house, a car or college savings when you can have an easily accessible public toilet?
In the London suburb of Highgate, a toilet is currently up for rent for the cost of £3,000 per month, or approximately $4,252 US dollars. The toilet is being offered at that price by local builder James Atherton, who hopes bus drivers passing through will take the deal.

"I thought they might be interested in buying it, or maybe three of them could get together and rent it," he told The Camden New Journal.
The toilet is located near a bus turnaround point and a block of apartments. Renting it would cost approximately twice what it costs to rent a one-bedroom apartment in the area.

But even though Atherton is offering this toilet at an above-market price, it comes with strings attached. Renters can't just use the toilet as they please -- they'll be responsible for its upkeep as well.
"Whoever takes it will have to clean and maintain it themselves and use it as a toilet," Atherton added.
Surely peeing in a toilet offers more safety and comfort than a tree, off the side of the road. But $4,252 is a hefty price. Does the toilet come with a water slide attached? Are you able to ring a butler and have them deliver you a full chicken on the john? Is the toilet made of Egyptian cotton and gold?
Atherton appears to have taken advantage of the city of Camden's plans to close public toilets in a local square.
"I hope they don’t shut the public toilets in Pond Square because they are needed, but it would be good news for me in a business sense," Atherton said.
