Rihanna, Anne Hathaway join 'Ocean's Eight' heist movie

Rihanna, Anne Hathaway and rising star Nora Lum (aka Awkwafina) are finalizing deals to join Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett in Ocean's Eight, a female-led riff on George Clooney's Ocean's Eleven, Mashable has confirmed.

Mindy Kaling and Helena Bonham Carter are also nearing deals to fill out the ensemble, who are rumored to be tasked with pulling off a heist at the New York Met Gala.

Gary Ross (The Hunger Games) is directing the Warner Bros. film, which will be produced by Steven Soderbergh, who directed the recent Ocean's trilogy. He's currently filming his own heist movie, Logan Lucky, in Atlanta, but once he wraps that he'll segue to Ocean's Eight, which is slated to start shooting in October in New York. Ross co-wrote the script with Olivia Milch.

Since making her big screen debut in Battleship, Rihanna has been taking on more feature roles, and she'll next be seen in Luc Besson's Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets with Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne.

Awkwafina recently made her feature debut in Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising and has also wrapped Milch's directorial debut Dude.

Hathaway is an Oscar winner who recently co-starred with Bonham Carter in Alice Through the Looking Glass. She next stars in the monster movie Colossal with Dan Stevens and Jason Sudeikis.
