Rihanna and Lupita Nyong'o might be in a film together—and it's all thanks to Twitter

Good job, Twitter 🙌🏾

As frustrating as Twitter can be to some, the social media platform has brought about friendships, romance and unprecedented online activism since 2006. Now, Twitter.com might just be the birthplace of your future favorite film.

Folks on the site have really outdid themselves this weekend when they roped in Oscar winning actress Lupita Nyong'o and everyone's favorite Grammy award winning pop star Rihanna into starring in a film, penned by two award-winning directors—and all it took were a few tweets.

It all started when @blaquepink shared an iconic photograph shot by Pascal Le Segretain of the two women sitting side by side, front row at a 2014 Miu Miu fashion show. "A picture for the history books," @blaquepink wrote.

@1800SADGAL then quote-tweeted the legendary photo, adding "Rihanna looks like she scams rich white men and Lupita is the computer smart best friend that helps plan the scans."

And with that, Twitter grabbed hold of this imaginary plot line and naturally, they assigned director and screenwriters Ava DuVernay and Insecure's Issa Rae to write the script and bring the characters to life.

One by one, each of the women drawn into this Twitter fever dream responded with their interest, sending everyone into a spiral of ecstasy at the thought of a real blockbuster originating with a few tweets.

"I'm down if you are Rihanna," Nyong'o tweeted.

"I'm in Pit'z," Rihanna promptly responded, using her adorable nickname for the actress.

Rae then responded in the only way that makes sense: a GIF of a cat ferociously typing at a keyboard, to which Rihanna wrote "Issa possibility 😳 ."

DuVernay? Don't worry, she's in too.

"Lights set. Camera's up. Ready to call action for these #queens 👑 ," she tweeted on Sunday. With screenwriters and directors and a duo ready for the big screen, all that was left to secure was funding and distribution to turn this into a reality.

Sometimes life works out so wonderfully, and Codeblack Films, a division of entertainment company Lionsgate proved it with a simple tweet. "Lionsgate is ready! Are you guys serious? If so a deal can be done this week!," they wrote.

Mashable has reached out to representatives of Rihanna and Nyong'o to confirm if we're all being pranked or not, but if this comes to fruition, there's no doubt that it will be the best thing to come from Twitter, hands down.
