Rita Ora's attempt to prank a German singing show went hilariously, awkwardly wrong

"What's your name?"

If you're a celebrity making a guest appearance on a show, you're going to be expecting some kind of reaction.

Well, Rita Ora certainly got a reaction when she guest appeared on the German version of the singing competition The Voice -- but mild confusion might not have been what she was hoping for.

In case you've never seen The Voice, it's basically a contest where the four judges can't see the person singing. They base their decision on whether or not to pick a contestant solely on the voice, and can only see what the person looks like after they've pressed a button and their chair has turned around.

Well, the good news for Ora was that all four judges turned around when she sang. The bad news was none of them recognised her.

Here's an abridged transcript of the exchange that took place between Rita and the judges after she'd finished singing:

Rita: "Okay, how did I do?"

Mark: "It sounded almost like the original"

Yvonne: "Yes, it really did."

Michi: "What's your name, where are you from?"

Rita: "Okay, my name is Rita Ora"

Judge 2: "You're kidding us. Just let me know, are you a double, or--"

Rita: "No no, I'm not a double, it's really me"

Oh dear.

In fairness, there's a chance everyone could simply have been acting, and the judges really knew it was Ora all along.

If that's the case though it's definitely some impressive acting, because they looked genuinely surprised when she said her name.

Fair play to Rita Ora and the judges -- despite the confusion and any mild awkwardness they all manage to recover pretty quickly.
