No way, rosé

File rosé to that section of your brain used for avocado toast and crazy milkshakes. That category called, "food and drink that, though delicious, has become unbearable because it's just everywhere."

Rosé gets its trademark hue from crushed grape skins, though it does not contain enough to be considered red wine. It ranges in color from pale pink to vibrant fuchsia and in taste from dry to sweet. It's also extremely photogenic. The social media world can't help but glorify this beautiful glass of vino.

However, like Taylor Swift, rosé is this close to overexposure. Here are a few reasons rosé should take a break this summer.

1. Rosé gummy bear mania

A video posted by Sugarfina (@sugarfina) on

When high end NYC-based candy company Sugarfina introduced rosé gummy bears made with Whispering Angel rosé wine, it was hard to imagine they would take off the way they did. As in, 14,000 people joined a waiting list for the treats after the candy sold out within hours of becoming available. The alcohol is cooked off in the candy-making process, so the lucky few who snag a box won't even get a celebratory buzz off the stuff. At the end of the day, isn't it just candy?

2. Rosé chocolate

Chocolate does not need edible rose petals or an infusion of rosé wine to be delicious. Compartes' white chocolate bar is doubtless delicious, but with the endless influx of rosé burning out your palate, will you even be able to tell? Depending on where you live, the bar (which approaches the $10 mark) could have a substantial shipping cost, to boot.

3. Rosé knows how popular it is

Like that girl in school who knew how pretty and cool she was but kept saying "Come on, I love Harry Potter ... I'm such a nerd ... tee hee."

4. Frosé

This alcoholic slushie is Instagram royalty, but, come on ... couldn't the Slurpee just be special in all its fake-sugar, non-alcoholic, guilty pleasure glory? No, rosé, you had to take over and make it all about you.

5. All rosé, all the time, everywhere you look

There are hashtags. Multiple Instagram accounts. A lifestyle brand. All rosé needs now is a signature beauty product and the ability to actually give an interview to be featured in Harper's Bazaar.

Oh wait ... been there, done that.

The throngs of people living the rosé dream do have one good point: it's five o'clock somewhere in the world and those bottles of the pink stuff aren't going to drink themselves.
