With the (rumored) Apple March event fast approaching, the ever-active Apple rumor mill is turning into a news-churning frenzy.

The two latest reports, courtesy of 9to5Mac and Japan's Macotakara, bring to light a (possible) new form factor for the iPhone 7 and a new, improved camera on the (possibly) upcoming 9.7-inch iPad Pro.

The iPhone 7 -- which is expected to be shown in the fall rather than in March -- will be a full 1mm thinner than the iPhone 6S, which would bring it to a razor-thin 6.1mm. It might also have a thinner Lightning port -- not a different design, mind you, only a smaller cutout in the case.

As for the things the iPhone 7 will not have, add the 3.5mm headphone jack to that list -- a painful omission for many headphone owners, but likely necessary if Apple is determined to make the phone significantly thinner than the current version. The new device will also not be fully waterproof, though it should be able to resist a little rain.

Finally, the iPhone 7 could have stereo speakers, a sorely needed upgrade from the mono speaker world all the previous iPhones are inhabiting.

The iPad 9.7-inch iPad Pro, expected to be shown in March alongside a 4-inch iPhone SE, might come with a 12-megapixel camera, according to 9to5Mac's sources. This would make it a little more powerful, at least in the photo department, than the full sized, 12.9-inch iPad Pro, which only has an 8-megapixel rear camera.

Other specs of the 9.7-inch iPad Pro are expected to be the same as the one in the larger version, including an A9X processor, quad speakers and Apple Pencil support.

The March event could also see the release of new Apple Watch models, mostly consisting of new wristbands and software improvements.
