INDIO, California -- Ahead of their set at Coachella on Saturday, Run the Jewels told Mashable they had a very special surprise guest who would be joining them onstage: "Jesus."

"His presence will be felt," Killer Mike said.

No, Jesus of Nazareth did not make an appearance during their set, but it also wouldn't have been all that surprising given who did show up.

While democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, a.k.a. Killer Mike's best friend, wasn't physically there, he did introduce the rap duo via video ahead of their 4:55 p.m. set at the main stage.

And it only got crazier from there.

With most of the crowd waving either red Run the Jewels bandanas or signs with Sanders' face on them, Killer Mike and El-P ran through a string of hits before bringing out Gangsta Boo, formerly of Three 6 Mafia.

Then came Nas, who performed "Made You Look" and called RTJ "my favorite group."

Ahead of the set, Killer Mike spoke about the "huge amount of love and respect" they have for Sanders. (Killer Mike has frequently supported Sanders at rallies throughout his campaign.)

"I like the O.G., old guy," Killer Mike said. "He's something I've rarely seen in politics in that he really has his integrity intact, he's fair and honest."

"I'm enamored with the OG, I'm going to try to help him as best [as I can] to become president and if not I'll go to Vermont and eat pancakes and just talk about what we always did."
