Ryan Adams will headline Music is Universal at SXSW with the Avett Brothers

Ryan Adams and the Avett Brothers will headline UMG's Music is Universal at the SXSW Music Festival.

Ryan Adams and The Avett Brothers are heading to Austin.

Americana singer-songwriter and the North Carolina folk-rock band will headline Music is Universal at the SXSW Music Festival, a showcase from Universal Music and Marriott Rewards. This marks their first time performing together. 

The show starts at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16. It'll be held at the JW Marriott, which will be converted into a music venue for the entirety of the four-day festival.

Ryan Adams' last major release was a cover album of Taylor Swift's 1989. He previously performed a few tracks off the album on The Daily Show in October. 

Thursday's showcase also includes performances by Joe Jonas' DNCE, Beau, Grizfolk, Gryffin, Kacy Hill, Grace Mitchell and The Strumbellas. Friday performers include from Vince Staples, BJ the Chicago Kid, Banners, Cloves, Niykee Heaton, Joseph and Snarky Puppy.
