Small town, clocks -- murder? If all goes well for the newly-launched Serial Productions, those will soon be the favorite topics of the podcasting world. S-Town is a new murder mystery podcast that dives into true events in Alabama and the program released a short preview on Tuesday.

The preview is essentially a soliloquy for a broken antique clock from host Brian Reed. "I only know all this because years ago an antique clock restorer contacted me," Reed explains. "And asked me to help him solve a murder."

The show's website describes S-Town as follows:

John despises his Alabama town and decides to do something about it. He asks a reporter to investigate the son of a wealthy family who's allegedly been bragging that he got away with murder. But then someone else ends up dead, sparking a nasty feud, a hunt for hidden treasure, and an unearthing of the mysteries of one man's life.

John is the one who contacted the team behind Serial and This American Life to dive into the dirty secrets of his "shit-town," which they did for the next three years.

“The story has this feeling and mood that’s different from anything else we’ve done," Ira Glass recently told Entertainment Weekly. "I don’t think people have heard a show like this.”

You can subscribe to S-Town now via iTunes. The show begins March 28.
