'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina' first photos are wickedly witchy
Hold onto your milkshakes, Riverdale fans. Your witchcraft expansion pack has nearly arrived.
Netflix's newly released photos of Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina Spellman preview the satanic shenanigans we can expect from the upcoming Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. And, Avada Kedavra, they are something! (Different wizarding world. I know.)
The first features Sabrina rocking a Little Red Riding Hood-esque get-up with a stick (or broom?) and bell in hand. What's in that messenger bag? Why does she have a bell? Is this a sinister foreshadowing of the terrors to come... or just a salute to trendy fall fashion?!
The second photo shows our teen witch at her dark baptism. You know, just a traditional occult ritual. Out in the middle of the woods. Fancy robes. Pendants. A shirtless man/rabbit covered in blood. Boring family stuff.
While the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Twitter and Instagram have been active enough, plenty remains to be seen about the dark series' direction. Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is heading up the supernatural project.
Promising a super spooky take on the original comics, he's calling it a "dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft."
The first 10-episode installment will be available to stream on Netflix just in time for Halloween. And, yes, a Season 2 is already in the works.
These photos come one month after the release of the series' official posters.
With a premiere date set for October 26, here's hoping we get more teasers to tide us over.
