Maybe, for a second, we should just listen to the children.

Concerned about the fate of the public school she attends, second grade student Willa Kohn wrote a heartbreaking message to Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos to tell her just how much she loves her school.

Willa, daughter of CNN commentator Sally Kohn, got a postcard from a store in Brooklyn celebrating art from the Women's March, and wanted to send it to "the woman in charge of education."

Here's what she wrote:

"I love my public school," Willa wrote. "It is the place I'v [sic] been in this school for four years," she wrote before asking DeVos not to "tear it down."

"I love schools and I love everything about it," the 8-year-old wrote, before signing off with "From Willa daughter of Sally Kohn."

"FYI I don't like the 'daughter of Sally Kohn' part," the CNN commentator captioned the photo. "But am so into the rest of it."

"I ❤ my kid! And we ❤ our public school," she continued.

Kohn said her family listens to NPR at home in the mornings, and believes Willa must have gotten the idea to write to DeVos from hearing news reports. She asserted that she was proud of her daughter for speaking up to protect her education, and applauded Willa's school.

“It’s a wonderful place with wonderful teachers and administrators and volunteers who do so very much for so very many kids with incredibly strapped resources,” Kohn said of her daughter's public school.

“It’s amazing what creative, supportive places of learning our public schools are, even with limited support from policy makers. Imagine if our public schools actually got what they need?”

Imagine?
