Salted caramel, the it-girl flavor of a few years back, has arrived in soda form.

Pepsi is releasing a salted caramel variant of the cola-flavoured drink in the U.S., as part of a suite of products in time for the holiday season.

The company describes it as an "indulgent new, limited-time flavor which blends the refreshing taste of cola with a delicious caramel finish."

As for what it actually tastes like, Today describes it as "not bad" but lacking the "salty kick" which often comes with salted caramel.

"The caramel flavor isn’t strong, but it’s apparent enough that it’ll give you a sweet aftertaste. If Pepsi is your cola of choice, it’s worth giving the salted caramel flavor a shot," a Today staffer describes.

On Twitter, some people were a tad more blunt in their reviews.

In Japan, Pepsi have also released a Christmas Cola that apparently tastes like a cake.

The company's official release explains the white cola drink has a "sweet and sour strawberry flavor," which is in line with the Christmas cakes that are eaten in the country. A Christmas cake in Japan is a sponge cake, lathered with whipped cream and dressed with strawberries.

So...water, anyone?
