What's really the most important function of a phone? Ask most millennials and the answer will resoundingly be the camera.

Duh.

Being part of the "selfie generation" means taking photos obsessively. Before purchasing a new phone, we need to know just how good the camera quality is.

So when we heard the newest phone from Samsung, the Galaxy S7 Edge, touted arguably the market's best camera, we had to test it out.

The camera has 12 megapixels with optical image stabilization, and 5 megapixels on the front. It also has an f/1.7 aperture lens, which means you can create a dewy bokeh effect, a.k.a. your photos will look DSLR quality.

To test this out, I asked my colleague Noelle Sciacca to model this season's hottest beauty trend: glitter. It was all over the runways, from Burberry to Giambattista Valli.

We put it through the test with the help of MAC Cosmetics Senior Artist, Gina Battelli, and me, an amateur photographer, taking my shot on the streets.

The results? Look below for five of our favorite shots, unaltered and unedited. You'll be surprised just how professional they appear.

1. Glitter eyes

Every single glitter was meticulously placed to achieve this look. It's both festive and screams fun. Notice the metallic silver placed at the corners of the eyes. It makes the entire look pop.

2. Glitter lips

As we've seen with galaxy-inspired lips from Michelle Phan, this trend is going nowhere. From Coachella to a night out, these dark, sexy lips pack a punch for any outfit.

3. The bronze and beautiful

This gradient look mixes many colors together, almost mimicking an oil spill. It looks dewy and iridescent, yet approachable.

4. Glitter brows

Inspired by Giambattista Valli's collection for the brand's spring runways, we painted just below the eyebrows to create a dynamic, modern look.

5. Glitter nails

One cannot possibly go glittery without painting one's talons. We placed glitter with a matte finish onto our nails and snapped away.

Final thoughts

The camera on the new Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge was nothing short of amazing and super easy to use. But we do have to note that snapping quickly wasn't always easy. One needs to play with it beforehand for a good few minutes to get the hang of the camera and its functions.

Other than that, these photos speak for themselves. These days, it's the ideal smartphone camera to use for snapping fashion and beauty.
