Shark-ridden unboxing of the Galaxy S8 is the perfect metaphor for the smartphone industry
The smartphone industry is tough. Phone makers, we imagine, sometimes feel like they're surrounded by sharks. Which is why an underwater unboxing video of Samsung's new Galaxy S8, with sharks swimming around, makes perfect sense.
Also, it's very hard for a phone to catch fire underwater, so that may be another reason for this watery unboxing.
The entire thing is a stunt by T-Mobile, but it's a good one. After the diver is done with unboxing the phone, he uses it to take a video of the apex predator swimming towards him.
If you feel inspired to do a little bit of underwater videography yourself, a word of warning: the Samsung Galaxy S8 is waterproof to IP68 specifications, meaning it can be submerged in up to 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes. However, diving with it is not advised.
