Sheryl Sandberg's new book 'Option B' explores grief in wake of husband's death
Status update from Facebook HQ: Sheryl Sandberg is penning a new book.
The chief operating officer of Facebook and author of Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead is close to finishing a second book, Recode reported Friday.
Titled Option B, the book focuses on grief and includes stories from Sandberg along with research gathered by Adam Grant, a professor of management at Wharton and co-author. Sandberg and Grant are currently seeking a publisher.

The announcement comes a year after Sandberg's husband David Goldberg passed away suddenly from a heart condition while the two were on vacation in Mexico. Goldberg, the CEO of SurveyMonkey, left behind Sandberg and their two children.
The book will address the healing process and finding meaning in life after tragedy. Sandberg has previously written about her personal struggle and coping with loss.
"Option A is not available. So let’s just kick the shit out of option B."
The title, Option B, is in reference to advice Sandberg received from her family friend Phil Deutch. "I cried to him, ‘But I want Dave. I want option A.’ He put his arm around me and said, ‘Option A is not available. So let’s just kick the shit out of option B,'" she wrote in a Facebook post last June.
Sandberg first spoke publicly about the matter within her commencement address to the class of 2016 at the University of California at Berkeley.
"Dave’s death changed me in very profound ways. I learned about the depths of sadness and the brutality of loss," Sandberg said. "I'm sharing this with you in the hopes that today, as you take the next step in your life, you can learn the lessons that I only learned in death."
All proceeds from the new book will go to Sandberg's nonprofit organization and community Lean In, according to Recode.
Since publishing Lean In in 2013, Sandberg has continued to speak openly about the difficulties of being a women in the workplace. On Mother's Day this year, she admitted her neglect to not writing enough about single parents.
"Some people felt that I did not spend enough time writing about the difficulties women face when they have an unsupportive partner or no partner at all. They were right," Sandberg wrote on Facebook. "I will never experience and understand all of the challenges most single moms face, but I understand a lot more than I did a year ago."
