'StarCraft II' pro Scarlett is the top-earning female esports player
Sasha "Scarlett" Hostyn, the Zerg scourge of the StarCraft II esports circuit, has earned more money than any other female esports player.
Guinness World Records confirmed the 22-year-old Canadian pro's all-time winnings of $144,414 as record-setting in early October, but the achievement merited a public shout-out from Team Liquid on Sunday.

Scarlett bests the previous record-holder -- Katherine "Mystik" Gunn -- by more than $20,000. As of Sept. 2015, Mystik had earned $122,000 primarily as a professional Halo player.

For comparison, the top-earning male StarCraft II pro of all time is South Korea's Jang "MC" Min Chul, with $495,029. The 25-year-old player started competing professionally in 2010 -- compared to 2012 for Scarlett -- and has more matches played overall.
Scarlett is currently a member of Team expert, with "ByuN" Hyun Woo and Aleksandr "Bly" Svusuyk (formerly "GhostKing"). She's got a particular talent for utilizing the Zerg's Creep spread efficiently, giving her army an edge as she shifts it around the maps.
