400 Singaporeans gave Joseph Schooling a massive welcome at the airport after his gold medal win
SINGAPORE -- After his historic gold medal win at the Olympics over the weekend, would you expect any smaller welcome for Joseph Schooling when he touched home soil?
Over 400 people were waiting to greet the 21-year-old champ at the airport early on Monday morning. When his plane touched down at 5:30 a.m., Changi Airport performed a water gun salute, and he walked out while wearing his gold medal, reports Today.
Schooling made history on Friday night by winning the 100m butterfly, besting his idol Michael Phelps, who tied for silver with two other swimming greats South Africa's Chad le Clos and Laszlo Cseh of Hungary.
