Environmental Protection Agency head Scott Pruitt, a man who spent $43,000 in government funds on a soundproof phone booth, apparently also wanted to buy an old mattress from Washington, D.C.'s Trump International Hotel.

According to an AP report, Pruitt asked senior aide Millan Hupp to hunt for the mattress -- a Stearns & Foster mattress produced exclusively for Trump Hotels in 2008, per BuzzFeed -- around the time he was planning to move.

“The administrator had spoken with someone at the Trump Hotel, who had indicated there could be a mattress he could purchase, an old mattress he could purchase,” said Hupp.

In her account, which was later sent to the House oversight committee, Hupp also said that Pruitt asked her to house hunt and book personal travel for Pruitt during work hours, which -- you guessed it -- is crossing a huge professional line.

But that wouldn't be too surprising for Pruitt, who is, per the AP, currently the subject of "a dozen separate investigations into alleged misspending and ethical missteps involving Pruitt and his top aides." Yikes!

It is unclear if he ever obtained the mattress.
