'Deadpool' gets an Honest Trailer - and of course Ryan Reynolds crashed it
NEW YORK -- It started with a tweet.
Last February, Defy Media's VP of programming Andy Signore saw Deadpool and immediately knew ScreenJunkies wanted to give it the "Honest Trailers" treatment.
But then the idea hit him: Wouldn't it be cool if Ryan Reynolds, aka Deadpool himself, could make a cameo?

So Signore enlisted in the fervent ScreenJunkies fanbase (made up of 5.4 million subscribers to the channel alone) to use social media and try and convince the A-list actor to get on board.
And it worked.
On Tuesday, the channel debuted a Deadpool Honest Trailer, with Reynolds serving as the voiceover of the Merc with a Mouth. Mashable is exclusively premiering it (above).
Signore said after a few weeks of people campaigning on social media, he got a notification in his inbox that Reynolds was following him on Twitter. Then came the direct message.
"He said 'Hey it's Ryan, I'm a huge fan of Honest Trailers, I loved your Green Lantern one," Signore told Mashable. "He said 'I'm super busy but what are you thinking?' I sort of told him about what I was thinking. I said 'how about I give you a couple of pages and if you like it and have time? Then I gave him my email and he emailed me. He was so nice and accommodating and made time."
Signore said Reynolds went to an ADR booth near the set of Deadpool 2 in Europe and recorded the lines for the trailer a total of three times.
"He's been really involved with the process and gave us a couple of suggestions and pointers," Signore said. "He's been super cool about it. Him loving the brand and wanting to help us has just been a dream. This will definitely take the [Honest Trailer] over the edge."
The "Honest Trailers" videos have become a well known franchise online, as ScreenJunkies popularity continues to grow. However, Signore said Reynolds is definitely the biggest celebrity to make an appearance.
"You asked for a Deadpool Honest Trailer, and BOY did we deliver," the ScreenJunkies team writes in the video's description. "You're welcome in advance you ****** ******* **** *******! Check out what happened when Marvel finally brought Wade Wilson to life in a way that didn't make everyone want to forget it ever happened!"
