Sean Spicer took to the podium to take a variety of questions from key media Monday - calling on Fox Business, the New York Post and the Christian Broadcasting Network for the first three questions - but the internet only had one query on its mind.

Can you trust a man who swallows his gum whole?

The new White House press secretary did his best to focus the news agenda on TPP, Skype seats for remote journalists and other issues during the session. But on Twitter, a short segment from a recent Washington Post piece about Sean Spicer's mouth was really striking a chord. Specifically:

Even when he is not speaking, it works on overdrive, churning through pieces of Orbit cinnamon gum, which he chews and swallows whole. Notwithstanding his line of work, the man just can’t stand a gross-feeling mouth.“Two and a half packs by noon,” said Spicer. “I talked to my doctor about it, he said it’s no problem.”

That's right: the new White House press secretary swallows over two packs of chewing gum before noon every day.

Naturally, Twitter went ballistic.

The issue distracted people from the news conference and even his ongoing feud with Dippin' Dots.

Along with the news that Pence calls his wife 'mother' it was too much to take for some.

Incidentally, Spicer's habit is totally fine, according to Trump's wildly credible doctor.

Sadly, none of the journalists assembled Monday got any confirmation on the gum issue.
