Selfie Olympics are back and they're even more intense in 2018

Who says this isn't a real sport?

In the winter of 2014, the world gathered for an international competition that would push each nation's best minds to the limit.

No, it wasn't the Olympics in Sochi -- it was Twitter's Selfie Olympics, and they're back just in time to align with 2018's Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.

Twitter user @Bradleysanborn brought back the #selfieolympics hashtag with his post of bizarre mirror selfies, featuring him biking in the shower and cooking penis shaped pancakes in his bathroom.

The Selfie Olympics was the first meme of 2014. It had pretty simple rules: it needed to be a mirror selfie, and it needed to include props.

People got really into it, and started creating elaborate scenes for their mirror selfies.

The hashtag caught on, and Twitter was flooded with amazing photoshoots, like of @jonas_chimbanda catching a picture mid-leap.

Now that it's back four years later, it's become a truly international competition. Whoever says the Selfie Olympics can't count as a real sport needs to check out @RIIICHARD precariously balancing on a skateboard lodged in a cabinet. It takes serious strength to master a selfie so well.

Some of the photoshoots featured animal selfies, like this chihuahua giving its best angles.

But @jordie_nassif brought the competition to a whole new level when she included a whole horse in her selfie.

The Selfie Olympics are also a test of creativity. Just look at this incredible double mirror selfie.

And as @koheijito's submission shows, some abandoned thumbs altogether and mastered the art of taking selfies with their feet.

Forget throwing back to 2014. @DejuanJeffery took us back to 2004 with this submission.

2018's Selfie Olympics show just how creative (and flexible) human beings are.

Keep an eye out for 2022's Selfie Olympics -- hopefully it'll count as a real sport by then.
