The second-generation QuietComfort Ultras — Bose's follow-up to the legendary noise-cancelling headphones — are officially up for pre-order. In the tech world, that can only mean one thing: a price drop on the former generation.
As of Sept. 5, you can pick up the first-generation Bose QuietComfort Ultra headphones for just $379 instead of the current list price of $449 (the price to pre-order the Gen 2s) across most retailers — including Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, and Bose. While that's not the lowest price on record for these headphones, that's still 15% in savings and the lowest price we've seen in a few months. Each retailer has different color options in stock, so be sure to shop around if you have a specific color in mind.
The QuietComfort Ultras are the most comfortable headphones on the market for most folks. Mashable's shopping reporters Bethany Allard and Sam Mangino both tested them and noted that they can easily be worn all day without earaches, even if you're rocking glasses and jewelry. The battery life accompanies that all day comfort as well. Even with noise cancellation turned on, the QuietComfort Ultras last from 18 to 24 hours per charge.
These headphones also offer good (not great) noise cancellation, excellent sound quality, foldable earcups, and plenty of color options. The second-generation keeps the same basic design, but adds wired lossless playback, reliable detection, and an even longer lasting battery life.
