Showtime orders Season 8 of 'Shameless'
Showtime president David Nevins announced Monday morning that the hit series Shameless will be returning for an eighth season.
Production will begin in 2017 on 12 new episodes whose release date has yet to be announced.
Shameless Season 7 concluded on Dec. 18, with the Gallagher family dealing with shades of grief and Frank planning his next move. In its seven season, Shameless became one of Showtime's longest-running and highest-performing shows ever and earned star William H. Macy Emmy nominations for his performance as Frank.
Shameless is currently streaming on Showtime and through its Amazon extension.
