Sharon Stone laughed for 10 seconds after a man asked if she'd ever faced sexual harassment
Let's give it up for Sharon Stone.
There are so many ways she could have answered a question about whether she'd faced sexual harassment over the course of her 40-year career. But her default was to laugh, and then deliver an honest, frank response that basically boils down to: Yes, you silly man, of course I have.
This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed.
We don't see the lead-in question in the video, but the accompanying tweet and Stone's response makes it clear.
Really, it's better this way. Opening the video with the laugh, 10 searing seconds of rueful amusement, is just perfect. Especially as Stone's interviewer, CBS correspondent Lee Cowan, squirms and expresses confusion.
"You're laughing but I- I don't know if that's a nervous laugh? Or [an] 'Are you kidding me, of course I was' laugh."
It's most definitely the latter. There is no hint of nervousness here, as Stone's subsequent response -- delivered with what can best be described as kind condescension -- makes perfectly clear.
"I've been in this business for 40 years, Lee. Can you imagine the business I stepped into 40 years ago?" She raises her eyebrows here, pausing momentarily as Cowan starts to respond, and then she quickly cuts him off to continue her thought.
"Looking like I look? From nowhere Pennsylvania? I didn't come here with any protection."
"I've seen it all."
You can watch Stone's full interview from CBS Sunday Morning below. And you should. She has plenty more to say.
