Sheryl Sandberg is the latest tech giant to remind Donald Trump that immigration is integral to the fabric of the United States.

Sandberg penned an essay (on Facebook, where else?) recalling the bravery of her great grandmother, a Lithuanian refugee who landed at Ellis Island in 1889. "If Channa had not taken that difficult journey, I would not be here today – my family would almost certainly have perished in the concentration camps of World War II."

Sandberg goes on to call out Trump's immigration ban and the damage it has already done in the United States.

The Executive Orders issued over the past week defy the heart and values that define the best of our nation. Families have been separated. Frightened children have been detained in airports without their parents. People seeking refuge have been turned away and sent back to the danger they just managed to flee. This is not how it should be in America

The Lean In author goes on to address some of the ways the ban is "particularly unforgiving for women." She cites ways undocumented women in our country are already a vulnerable population, including lack of access to education and how the fear of deportation prevents them from reporting rape.

"How we treat some of the most vulnerable people on the planet says a lot about who we are," writes Sandberg.
