You can now buy a SIM-free iPhone X from Apple
Good news for people who hate carrier contracts and have a thousand bucks to spend on a phone: Apple now sells a SIM-free version of the iPhone X.
This model is the same as other iPhone X variants but it's unlocked, meaning you're free to use it on whichever network you prefer. It supports both GSM and CDMA networks, which is important for frequent travelers.
The process of purchasing the phone is the same as usual: Go to Apple's website, click "Buy" on the iPhone X site, and under "Carrier" choose "Buy without a carrier."
The shipping time is currently 5 days in the U.S. for all variations of the iPhone X.
It's also possible to pick up the phone at an Apple Store immediately, depending on the city.
