The Simpsons got real at the end of its Season 29 premiere on Sunday evening.

After more than a week of politically charged chatter around the devastation in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria, The Simpsons cut through the bullshit to say something meaningful. Everyone, stop bickering and help these suffering people.

The episode concluded with a still image of the Springfield community, with Homer, Marge, Bart, Nelson Muntz, and Marge's sisters, Selma and Patty, holding up the Puerto Rican flag. Marge also holds a sign that reads "Unido" (Spanish for "united") while Lisa stands in the foreground, a tear in her eye.

The image points to a number of charity efforts, as well: UNICEF USA and Save the Children, both of which provide emergency relief for kids; and One America Appeal, which is currently working on relief efforts in Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, Florida, and Texas.

Puerto Rico relief efforts in the U.S. have become extremely politicized, but small gestures such as this serve as an important reminder to help in any way we can.
