SINGAPORE -- The team putting up this year's National Day parade was probably quite aware that it would be difficult besting last year's milestone 50th celebration.

Held for the first time at the massive Sports Hub in Kallang, Tuesday's show was a high-tech spectacle beamed to homes and attended by a rowdy 55,000 people.

The 3D projection mapping required 66 HD projects and 15 buildings, each six stories tall.

The stage was the size of nine basketball courts, and took 320 workers 22 days to construct.

Creative director Beatrice Chia-Richmond noted in the parade pamphlet that planning was underway for a year before the big day.

The tickets for the show are free, but require balloting online. Organizers said most years sees 450,000 applications come in.

This is the goodie bag that every attendee got:

And after the pyrotechnics inside to close the show, a night sky of fireworks marked the end of the parade.
