SINGAPORE -- The wait is finally over. After we reported that the mysterious Burger Joint New York was coming to our shores back in January, there's now an official opening date: May 3.

Just like the original that's hidden behind a dark curtain at Le Parker Meridien Hotel, Burger Joint Singapore's location is equally as obscure. Despite its 115 Amoy Street address, the entrance is located toward the back on Gemmill Lane. Similarly, you'll have to follow the nameless neon sign to arrive at your destination.

Taking up the ground floor space of three shophouses, stepping into Burger Joint Singapore will immediately transport you to New York. Forget snobby maître d's and restaurant dress codes, because it's all about the original New York-style burgers here.

Like its interiors, the menu is fuss-free. Depending on how hungry you are, pick from a hamburger, S$13.10 ($9.74) or cheeseburger, S$13.80 ($10.26) which are cooked to order exactly the way you like it. If you're a meat lover, then go all out with the double cheeseburger, S$27.40 ($20.38). Add a side of fries for S$5.50 ($4.10) and top off your meal with a milkshake, S$11.80 ($8.78) or brownie, S$4.80 ($3.57).

In the day, you can order up at the kitchen counter and at night there will be table service available.

For those of you who like your burger with some refreshing liquid gold, you're in luck. Burger Joint Singapore's owner Nicholas Heaney, who's a self-confessed craft beer connoisseur, has set up a special chiller room to ensure your beer is served at exactly 1 degree Celsius every single time.

Bourbon-based cocktails are also available at the restaurant's bar, with three signature New York cocktails: the old fashioned, the Manhattan, and one special concoction thought up by the award-winning mixologists from 28 Hong Kong Street.

We got a chance to bite into Burger Joint's signature cheeseburger and let's just say, we'll be coming back for more.
