It’s not just India that is all excited about Diwali.

Over the weekend, Singapore launched its first Diwali-themed train, Land Transport Authority, part of the Ministry of Transport of Government of Singapore announced. The coaches of this train are decked up with beautiful images of diyas (oil filled lamps) and garlands. Images of lotus, peacock, and jewelery that capture the traditions of India are also present. Singapore has a sizeable Indian population as well as a pre-dominantly Indian "Little India" enclave, which is also the station to get the makeover.

"We’ve launched our first Deepavali (another name for Diwali) themed train today and you can now experience part of the stunning decorations at Little India right inside the #MRT. Decked out in this year’s Deepavali theme, the train features elegant elements such as intricate Indian jewellers, the lotus and peacock – a symbol of good luck," Land Transport Authority wrote in a Facebook post.

The train will run on the North East Line (NEL) which includes the Little India station. The platforms have been decorated with colorful floral designs, rangoli, and motifs. The dazzling Diwali celebrations are also seen in other parts of the world. Last week, about 30,000 people gathered in Leicester to watch the annual Diwali lights switch-on. Diwali
