SINGAPORE -- A national accredited management training course was slammed for its "insensitive" training materials, after a photo of one of its pages started circulating on Facebook.

According to a poster who calls himself Gary on Facebook, his friend Lai Yew Sin took a training course but was failed by the instructor for his refusal to complete the assessment.

His point of contention? The exam required participants to decide which four people to cut from a given list of 10 hypothetical staff members.

However, he found that the descriptions of the majority of the list included profiling details such as race, religion, sexual orientation, political affiliation and marital status -- with many of them failing to touch on actual work performance.

The course, under the government's Workforce Development Agency (WDA), was conducted by a training company here called Eagle Infotech Consultants.

A spokesperson for WDA confirmed that the course materials would be immediately replaced.

Eagle's managing director, Liana Tang, told The Straits Times that the assessment "was taken out of context," and it's aim was "to teach diversity."

The WDA promotes skills training for workers in Singapore, and offers courses to corporations.
