UPDATE: Jan. 4, 2021, 12:25 p.m. EST Slack was down for several hours but appears to be back for some users.

Slack said, "Not today, 2021."

After a long, exhausting 2020, we're starting the first Monday of the year off with a little gift from the internet gods: Slack is down.

If your job involves computers or you're working from home, there's a good chance your company uses Slack's chatrooms to facilitate communication among colleagues. Slack is the platform for chatting, sharing thoughts, tweets, and checking in with coworkers. It's a daily staple among workplaces, so when it's down, not to be dramatic, but all feels lost.

According to Downdector, Slack was having unavailable to users at around 10:00 a.m. ET on Monday morning, and Slack tweeted to confirm that "Customers may experience issues connecting to Slack to loading channels..." shortly after.

Downdetector is owned by Mashable's publisher, Ziff Davis.

Slack's team is reportedly on the case and working to restore the system, but from the looks of Twitter, everyone's doing just fine without it. After all, no Slack means no work...right? I believe those are the rules.

The first Monday back on the job after a holiday break is brutal, so we thank you for derailing our productivity, Slack.

It seems 2021 is off to a beautiful start. What a blessing.
