There's no better pairing than speedrunning through video games and donating to charity.

Smash The Record 2016 is hosting a charity speedrunning marathon (and Super Smash Bros. showdown) from Friday to Sunday featuring a ton of memorable games from the past and present, including speedrunning favorites like Super Mario World and Super Metroid.

All donations received from the event will go straight to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Throughout the weekend, speedrunners will be rushing, exploiting and skipping their way through over 40 different games from as far back as 1990, most of the games from Nintendo consoles.

You can check out a full schedule of the games at Smash The Record here.

Here are some can't-miss runs throughout the weekend:

Friday

  • Ninja Gaiden 2 at 8:30 p.m. ET

  • Resident Evil 4 at 10:45 p.m. ET

Saturday

  • Shovel Knight at 4:50 a.m. ET

  • Super Mario Galaxy at 5:55 a.m. ET

  • Aladdin at 10:30 a.m. ET

  • Star Fox 64 at 11 a.m. ET

  • Splatoon at 11:40 a.m. ET

  • Mirror's Edge at 6:50 p.m. ET

  • Goldeneye 007 at 7:45 p.m. ET

Sunday

  • Banjo Kazooie at 2:30 a.m. ET

  • Pokémon Blue at 5:15 a.m. ET

  • Super Mario World at 8:20 a.m. ET

  • Mega Man 9 at 9:40 a.m. ET

  • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time glitch exhibition at 11:40 a.m. ET

Some of the runs throughout the weekend will just be attempts to run through the game as fast as the game allows, and some speedrunners will utilize glitches and exploit the games to get to the end in astoundingly short times. You might even seen a world record get broken.

There is also a whole lot of Super Smash Bros. going on at Smash The Record 2016, including tournaments in Melee and Smash 4, special events, crew battles, blindfolded battles and more. You can check out the whole schedule here and follow along on VG BootCamp's main and secondary Twitch channels.
