Comedy Central adds 9 more original series to Snapchat slate
Comedy Central announced Wednesday that it's expanding its slate of original series created exclusively for Snapchat Discover.
The Viacom-owned network will add nine new series and renew four of its existing Snapchat shows: Quickie with Nikki, Swag-A-Saurus with James Davis, Like It with Liza and Hot Takes withBrandon Wardell.
Quickie with Nikki will return on April 19, but premiere dates for the other new and existing series have not yet been announced.

The new shows come in a range of formats including animation, sketch, standup, reality and late night.
Bert's Dreams, for example, will bring comedian Bert Kreischer's crazy dreams to life with animated recreations by Johnny McHone.
The news comes over a year after Comedy Central launched its Discover channel, becoming one of Snapchat's first media partners in January 2015.
Comedy Central first announced a slate of shows for the platform in September.
"It’s been great fun experimenting with established and emerging talent on our Snapchat Discover channel,” Kent Alterman, Comedy Central's president of original programming, said in a statement. “It allows us to play with form and format, and the reception from our fans and the creative community has been tremendously gratifying."

Though Comedy Central has found solid ratings and critical acclaim with shows like Broad City, Inside Amy Schumer and Tosh.O, cable networks have been experiencing widespread ratings drops amid a shift toward more digital consumption.
Many studies suggest teens and young adults vastly prefer YouTube and Netflix to traditional TV.
Experimenting on new platforms has become a vital way to draw in viewers and attract new ones.
Snapchat has been key in helping more traditional media companies broaden their audiences. The platform reported that 60% of U.S. smartphone owners between the ages of 13 and 34 are Snapchatters.
So far, utilizing the platform has been working well for Comedy Central.
A recent study of U.S.-based Snapchat users between the ages of 13-24 -- conducted by Variety and Defy Media -- ranked Comedy Central's Discover Channel as the second most popular among poll participants.
In February, Comedy Central also expanded its Discover channel internationally.
