Snapchat's political show 'Good Luck America' returns with Donald Trump's 'golden shower'

Snapchat is getting political, again.

The mobile storytelling app -- now facing the heat of Wall Street as a public stock -- relaunched its political news show Good Luck America on Wednesday. The new episode is available to Snapchat users in the U.S., Canada, the UK and Australia.

The series, which premiered last January, stars Snap's Head of News Peter Hamby, formerly a political reporter for CNN who also was an embed for Sarah Palin's campaign back in 2008.

Over the first season, Hamby took viewers on the presidential campaign trail, following each candidate and describing the intricacies of politics such as the electoral college. Now, he's tasked with pulling back the curtain of President Donald Trump's America.

"America's in a pretty weird place right now. Let me show you what's really going on," Hamby says in the latest episode. "Everything you thought you knew about American politics, you can just flush down Donald Trump's golden toilet. Does he have a golden shower too?"

In this first episode, which lasts just over five minutes, Hamby breaks down Trump's America. He takes viewers through the three working theories of who Trump is: the working hero; the autocrat; the accidental president.

"Nothing will stand in his way, not the courts, not the media and definitely not a population distracted by dumb clickbait," Hamby says. "Don't think this is politics as usual."

Hamby interviews Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), Sen. Steve Daines (R-MT), David Frum of The Atlantic, Republican strategist Tim Miller (former Jeb Bush staffer) and Democratic strategist Symone Sanders (former Bernie Sanders staffer).

"Our Democracy is in peril, but it's not doomed," Frum, a former speechwriter for President George W. Bush, tells Hamby.

Future episodes this season will feature Killer Mike, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and the hosts of Pod Save America: Jon Favreau, Tommy Vietor and Jon Lovett.

The last season featured interviews with President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, House Speaker Paul Ryan, Chris Christie, Jeb Bush, Bill Clinton and Lindsey Graham.

Good Luck America is part of Snapchat's effort to become a new form of TV for millennials, offering what Snapchat calls "Shows." It remains the only "Show" produced in-house by Snapchat and also helps guide projects developed by ABC, NBC, the BBC and other networks, according to a Snap spokesperson.

This style includes having the segment shot vertically and full screen. It's quickly paced and highly visual, with motion graphics and quick cuts, says a spokesperson. More than 22 million unique viewers watched the first season.
