Yes, Safelite has seen that Saturday Night Live sketch. And no, they're not exactly thrilled about it.

In the clip that aired Saturday, Beck Bennett plays a Safelite AutoGlass technician who's always available help a mom (Aidy Bryant) and her teenage daughter (Melissa Villaseñor) replace a broken windshield.

A little too available, in fact. His behavior gets more and more unsettling, and it eventually becomes apparent that he's the one who's been cracking the glass, so he can have an excuse to spend time with the daughter.

As you might imagine, "creepy stalker" is not exactly the image that Safelite wants associated with their brand. At first, they tried to play it off like everything was cool.

But a few hours later, they decided they weren't really into this joke at all.

What's more, they wanted to make it very clear that they had nothing at all to do with it.

Again, all very understandable. But if there's a silver lining here, it's this: This is the most time I have ever spent thinking about Safelite, and I'm surely not the only one.

Before this weekend, I could not have told you what this company was or what they did. Now I know exactly who to turn to the next time I'm faced with a broken windshield. Even if part of me will be wondering who broke that windshield to begin with.
