The sport may be called 'softball,' but there's nothing soft about it.

University of Oklahoma softball pitcher Paige Parker proved that point after she was invited to throw the first pitch at a Kansas City Royals game on June 20.

Parker hit the batting cages to warm-up with Royals catcher Drew Butera ahead of her first pitch. According to Sooner Sports, though she started off with easy throws at first, the Royals players wanted to see what she was really made of.

When Parker started giving the pitches her all, one practically knocked Butera to the ground as he caught it.

“They were pretty shocked about how much my ball moved," Parker told Sooner Sports. "They had some pretty funny reactions. Drew had a hard time catching some of my rise balls, which was pretty funny.”

All in all it was a good day for Parker, who fulfilled a childhood dream of meeting the players.

It's a great pitch from Parker, but it looks like Butera could stand to work on his catching.
