Softball player lands flat on her face in a slide so terrible it's almost good

That's gotta hurt.

Listen, if you're not an athlete, softball is hard. We're not pretending to be pros or anything, but if we could give one tip to the ball players out there trying to make it to the next base, it would be to slide FEET FIRST if at all possible.

Poor University of Akron outfielder Madison Carter didn't get this memo and took a whole lot of dirt to the face "sliding" into second.

Ooh. Indeed.

SportsCenter posted the embarrassing slide on Twitter as a part of a "Not Top 10" list.

According to Daily Mail, Carter entered the game as a pinch runner in the fourth inning when the team was losing to Buffalo 2-0. Despite the face plant, Carter safely made it to second base with her dignity and a smile.

Announcers said that the freshman had suffered the softball fail because the dirt on the field was wet. Adding insult to muddy injury, Carter's team ended up losing 3-0.

Anyone else see the resemblance?:
