Sonic, SEGA's iconic and adorable racing videogame hedgehog -- who even has a protein named after him -- has become the symbol of anti-facist resistance and we're so here for it.

It all started after U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal shared a photo of himself speaking at a peaceful rally in West Hartford, Connecticut, just one of many vigils and solidarity marches across the country in reaction to Charlottesville violence.

Some eagle-eyed users spotted an audience member with his anti-fascist Sonic-themed T-shirt which reads: "Sonic says no to fascism and racism" and a Sonic hat:

People absolutely loved the guy with the T-shirt:

Many people applauded Sonic's anti-totalitarian rhetoric:

The guy in the picture has been identified by Storyful as Ben Aech, a Sonic hardcore fan who uses the character's memes to make a point against racism and fascism:

This is Ben wearing his now-iconic T-shirt at the March for Science in April:

And here's Ben using Sonic to support LGBTQ rights:

He's really obsessed with Sonic, and we're kinda loving it:

Keep racing, Sonic:

(Ah, btw, you can buy the T-shirt here if you fancy it.)
