'Southside With You' trailer: The Obamas' origin story is almost here
LOS ANGELES -- One of the great surprises from this year's Sundance Film Festival was that Southside With You is actually good.

Because honestly, if you're anything like us, you took one look at writer/director Richard Tanne and thought, this is the guy to tell the Barack and Michelle's first-date story?
But the film is lovely: sweet, artful, funny and rich with layers. Let that be a bro-judgment lesson to us both.
Anyway, the first official trailer for Southside arrived Thursday, four months ahead of its August 26 release.
It does a pretty good job of setting up the tone of the first date between Michelle (Tika Sumpter) and Barry (newcomer Parker Sawyers), but trust us -- there's more to this movie than quippy, will-they-or-won't-they tête-à-tête.
