Robert Downey Jr. is coming back to Marvel movies sooner than you think
It seems you won't have to wait until the two-part Avengers: Infinity War to see Robert Downey Jr. return as Tony Stark.
The Iron Man actor is reportedly booked to join Tom Holland in Spider-Man: Homecoming. It'll be the wall-crawler's first solo movie appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2015's Marvel/Sony partnership brought about a homecoming.

The news comes from "sources" speaking to The Hollywood Reporter. We've reached out to Disney for confirmation, but until we have it, treat all of this as rumor.
Prior to Downey Jr. locking in the Homecoming appearance, his future Marvel commitments only extended as far as the 2018/2019 Avengers movies. He's also a key player in May's Captain America: Civil War.
Holland's Spidey makes his debut in Civil War -- and from what we've seen so far, the web-slinger falls squarely in the #TeamIronMan camp. Whether or not that union holds up throughout the movie remains to be seen, but Downey Jr. joining Homecoming suggests that he and Iron Man will remain super-bros.
Civil War arrives in theaters on May 6 and Homecoming follows on July 7, 2017.
